| The twins would ask their dear loving father to draw "an Indian on a horse" or "a stream-line train" and then the boys would copy their father's drawing. Years later, Vincent said: "When the boys were 5 years old , I stopped drawing because their drawings were better than mine." Then Harriet took over. |

| In Kindergarten, two boys would threaten the twins with: "If you don't draw us a picture that we can bring home to our mother, we are going to beat you up!" The twins soon learned to draw well. |
